58th Annual Mid-Atlantic Life Safety Conference

On Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 over 200 public fire and life safety educators gathered together for the 58th Annual Mid-Atlantic Life Safety Conference held at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.

Throughout the day, seminars on upcoming life safety strategies were held including "Stop the Bleed", "Cancer in the Fire Service", and many more.

At lunch we were enthralled with the Keynote speech entitled "You Can't Know Where You're Going Until You Know Where You've Been" presented by Ron Kanterman from Connecticut. MSFA Miss Fire Prevention 2017-2018, Sarah Paul, also welcomed us with a few words regarding her travels in promoting Fire and Life Safety.

Finally, we are proud to announce that Kimberly Smith, of the Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Company has been awarded the 2017 John C. Spiker Sr. Excellence in Life Safety Educator Award, presented by Maryland State Fire Marshal Brian Geraci, Maryland Secretary of State Police William Pallozzi, and John C. Spiker Jr. Congratulations from the Maryland Life Safety Information Exchange.

We would like to thank FABSCOM and the members of the MALSC Committee for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. As always, it was a fantastic program and we look forward to joining everyone next year!
