Western Gas Recalls to Inspect Propane Gas Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

The CPSC announced a recall from Western Gas of propane gas that was distributed and did not contain sufficient levels of odorant. Odorant is added to propane to help alert consumers of a gas leak. Failure to detect leaking gas can present fire, explosion, and thermal burn hazards.

Consumers should contact Western Gas or their supplier to determine whether their propane was affected and arrange for a free inspection. If determined that it is needed, Western Gas will arrange for additional odorization or replacement of the propane. Consumers should have carbon monoxide alarms within their residences or other buildings that use gas and be sure to test them regularly.
